Sweat! Officially Launches Friendly Fitness in Finnieston

Today, (Tuesday 10 January 2017) a new name on the gym block officially opened its doors at Skypark in Glasgow’s trendy Finnieston, offering members the chance to purge their Christmas pounds within a friendly ‘fitness for all’ environment.

Sweat! – the first of its kind in Scotland – has opened following a £1.5m investment and is set to bring a new energy and vibe to the West End, providing members with top of the range quality and offering, without the price tag.

The 22,000 sq ft site has been fully fitted out with over 200 pieces of state of the art TechnoGym exercise equipment. It has a dedicated 38-bike cycle studio, a sizeable weights area and an enclosed exercise studio with more than 100 classes each week.

The new, fully-staffed gym will also herald the arrival of The Matrix – a functional training regime comprising some of the latest kit, including battle ropes, Bulgarian bags and sleds, delivering instructor-led High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT).

A survey carried out by Sweat!, revealed that the main reason people would join a gym in 2017 is to improve their general health and wellbeing (41 per cent), followed by a desire to get fit (26 per cent) and the price (21 per cent).

Tom Hardy and Channing Tatum beat the likes of Matt Damon and Kevin Bridges to come out as joint top male celebrity partners that responders would like to build up a Sweat! with, whilst Scarlett Johansson and Jennifer Lawrence (both 13 per cent) saw off competition from Angelina Jolie and Nicola Sturgeon (both three per cent).

The survey showed that running was the main way people liked to Sweat! (28 per cent) closely followed by weights (26 per cent) and cardio classes (23 per cent).

Martin McGinley, general manager of Sweat! Glasgow, said: “Our doors are officially open. We have been welcoming our new members and those keen to see what Sweat! has to offer and been delighted by the response.

“Our friendly staff are on hand to help everyone looking to improve their health and general fitness. We’re ready to assist people in finding the right training programme to help them achieve – and exceed – their goals, whatever they may be.”

Sweat! Glasgow is open from 0600 to 2200 Monday to Friday and 0800 to 1900 on Saturday and Sunday. More information about the gym and details on the no contract memberships available, can be found at www.sweatglasgow.com
