News Release: 05 July 2021

Skypark, one of Scotland’s premier business locations, has announced that Her Majesty The Queen and Her Royal Highness Princess Anne visited Spire Global UK and AAC Clyde Space at Skypark on 30th June, on day 3 of the traditional Holyrood Week, which this year focused on visiting projects highlighting community and innovation.

During the visit, The Queen and Princess Anne met with the Head of the UK Space Agency, Dr Graham Turnock, The Lord Provost of Glasgow Philip Braat and were presented with an overview of Spire Global UK’s and AAC Clyde Space’s cutting edge technology and were shown how it is being used to solve real world issues.

Stephen Ellis, Senior Investment Manager, International at Federated Hermes, said: “As Skypark’s owners, it’s been an honour to welcome Her Majesty and Her Royal Highness to see the nanosatellite design and manufacturing facilities housed here at Skypark. Spire Global UK has expanded its on site presence rapidly in just 4 years. AAC Clyde Space also continues to go from strength to strength from being the original manufacturers of a Scottish satellite, the UKube-1 in 2014. We are very proud to play a part in accommodating Scotland’s thriving space sector and to demonstrate our business community as a cornerstone of the City’s economic strength.”
